In a quiet square in Paddington , a new kid on the block opened in December.

Lockhouse is edgy, modern and promised great burgers.

Yet it was only after it scooped best signature burger in the National Burger Awards, that Londoners started taking a real interest in Lockhouse .

Chris Spencer, executive head chef at Lockhouse says: "We’re stoked to have won this award, especially as we’ve only been open for around two months.

"When we first started developing the Lockhouse concept one of our main goals was to be known for our burgers.

"To have such recognition in such a short period of time is breath-taking, even more so for our signature classic."

The shabby chic spot has got together a menu of premium, matured steak burgers, signature "Jam Jar" salads and herb-basted spit roast chicken.

And after hearing much about this award winning menu, getwestlondon went to the venue itself to find out the lowdown on the new west London venture.

Here are 6 reasons why it's worth a visit.

1. It's still early days and a well-kept secret

Although they've certainly captured people's attention after winning their award, it's still relatively new where the London scene is concerned.

Which means you can get a table easier, get served fairly quickly and most of all, you can explore it before the masses begin to line up.

2. Their choice of craft beers is a big part of the hotspot

Local London beers or espresso martini anyone?

A large selection of more than 20 draught and bottled craft beers are available as well as a delicious cocktail list featuring the classics.

3. Lockhouse could become west London's answer to Shoreditch

Cheesy jalapeno fries won over our reporters

Food is served in wrapped-up paper, there are craft beers, everything is brick walls and dimly-lit bulbs.

It's very hipster but for once, you don't have to be in Shoreditch to experience one of these spots.

4. The obvious - it does superb burgers and generous portions

Burgers oozing with flavour all wrapped up in paper as they're served

Don't let this lop-sided picture fool you, it's packed full of chunky ingredients and freshly made sauces for meat lovers and vegetarians alike.

5. It had a lively Friday night atmosphere with a great bar

Head to Paddington and check out the new Lockhouse

It had just the perfect atmosphere for a Friday night if you want to head out, but don't want all out. There was a lively atmosphere at the bar and the seating section was separate so you can take your pick.

6. Not just the burgers were tasty, all the food was delicious

Chocolate brownie and ice cream dessert won't fail you on a Friday evening when you need a sumptuous sugar fix

Despite having no room at all after the burger and a huge pile of cheesy chips with jalapenos on them, getwestlondon's reporters still managed to sample their jam jar desserts. It did not disappoint.
