Following a recent refurbishment of their terrace, Pitcher and Piano in Richmond invited us along to try out a few cocktails, nibble on some nachos and watch the sun set over the River Thames .

Upon arrival, my companion and I were greeted by a very polite waitress who showed us straight to our seats in a small alcove style table on the terrace.

Surrounded by beautifully positioned flowers and welcomed by cushioned benches, we immediately felt at home as we ordered a bottle of the house white to enjoy in the evening sunshine.

The terrace looked out over Richmond Bridge and the River Thames and was bursting with a happy atmosphere as Londoners enjoyed post-work drinks and a natter with their friends, exactly how the area is described on the website.

So kick back and relax as we did.

To start

From small dishes to sharing platters, we were spoilt for choice with starters.

Homemade Nachos to start

Not wanting to fill ourselves up too much before the main event, we settled on sharing nachos and marinated chicken skewers served with a cucumber and garlic yoghurt dressing - divine.

The homemade nachos were nice and light and were smothered with sour cream, cheese and spicy salsa.

If I was going to be really picky, there could have been more cheese, but then again, I am a bit of a cheese addict, so it could just be me.

Onto the main course

If you're a burger fan, you will be in heaven as there is a whole section of the menu dedicated purely to burgers both vegetarian and meat.

Maple Glazed Bacon Burger

I chose the maple glazed bacon burger which was served with cheese (obviously), lettuce, red onion, beef tomato, gherkins and burger mayo.

One word - scrumptious.

Chips were of course served alongside the burger, along with a red cabbage and sweetcorn slaw.

My plus one chose the good old beer battered fish and chips served with grilled lemon, pea puree and tartare sauce.

Beer Battered Fish & Chips

There was a generous portion of fish and as the plate was scraped clean by a smiley faced diner, I think we can say it certainly did the job!

To finish

My companion and I were too full to attempt a pudding, so instead we chose to sip on a cocktail which was the perfect way to end a tasty meal.

The cocktail menu proved a challenge when it came to deciding which beverage to go for - every single one looked lovely.

Enjoy a cocktail in the evening sun

Eventually we ordered a Gin Garden and a Tiki Punch following a recommendation from the waitress.

Although rather pricey at £8-9 each, both cocktails tasted as though they had a generous portion of alcohol in them and were absolutely delicious, and what can you expect when you have a lovely view over the river?

All in all, we had an extremely enjoyable experience with polite and attentive staff in a friendly and care-free environment.
