The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is drawing near, with the show being held from May 19-23 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

A real treat and a very elegant, buzzy atmosphere, The Botanist is a must-go for afternoon tea in west London. Unusual teas, lovely cakes and even a champagne option make this a perfect afternoon for a break in-between flower spotting! Afternoon tea is £18.

A little bit further out but this swish hotel has something for everyone, with sandwiches, scones and cakes, and even a cookie cocktail! Afternoon tea is £16 per person.

Bluebird Chelsea

Classic cocktails and dainty treats make this a brilliant place to go for tea during the Chelsea Flower Show. Rumor has it, the Bluebird is a popular haunt for the Made in Chelsea cast! Traditional afternoon tea is £22.50, champagne afternoon tea is £29.50.

The Berkeley

Their famous afternoon tea, Prêt-à-Portea, is inspired by the changing colours of the fashion world, the menu switching every six months to correspond to the latest trends. With a dress code of "elegant smart casual" make sure you're dressed up to visit! Afternoon tea is £45.

Egerton House Hotel

This five-star hotel is one of Chelsea's best afternoon tea spots, and even serves themed afternoon tea.

A reviewer for an independent website said: "I recently had the great pleasure of experiencing afternoon tea at this beautiful, intimate hotel. Tea was divine with a lovely selection of sandwiches, scones and beautiful cakes, pastries and macaroons." Afternoon tea is £34.

The Drawing Room café

The famed cafe in Fulham Palace overlooks the palace gardens and offers a variety of pastries, sandwiches, cakes and buns. The menu changes according to the season, so expect springtime treats this May. Lunches and teas from £5.

The Cadogan Hotel

The Cadogan Hotel on Sloane Street serves Chelsea buns and marigold tea blends on their menu, and is set in a wood-panelled lounge. Afternoon tea is £26.50.

Gallery Mess

Gallery Mess is just a short walk from the Chelsea Flower Show, so it's ideal if you're just wandering around in the afternoon. Part of the Saatchi Gallery, the tea room a lovely, airy space. Enjoy a selection of cakes and biscuits, or add a pot of Hendricks tea (wild berry, orange and Hendricks gin). Afternoon tea is £15.50.

The Orangery

This classic afternoon tea offers lovely sandwiches and cakes, and is just a short journey from the Chelsea Flower Show. And if you're celebrating the arrival of new Royal baby Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, there's a special Royal afternoon tea, which includes a glass of Laurent Perrier Brut NV. Afternoon tea costs £26.
