Twice world champion and Olympic bronze medal rowing winner Sarah Winckless will open the doors to west London's newest riverside drinking haunt next week.

The nautical inspired blue-themed pub, which has secured a charming spot on the Thames, near Hammersmith, is the latest build by Chiswick's Fuller's group and is due to welcome punters at the official opening on Monday March 23 at 3pm.

It is the first pub to open at the new Fulham Reach development by St George on Distillery Wharf, Parrs Way, with views on the southern terrace overlooking Hammersmith Bridge, making it the perfect spot to enjoy the upcoming Boat Race in April.

Leading the team is Nina Dahl, local resident, who has been part of the Fuller's family for many years, her most recent stint at the Hereford Arms in South Kensington.

Ms Dahl, general manager of The Blue Boat, said: “It is amazing being part of a new pub opening, it’s been a busy few months and we are all looking forward to welcoming our customers through the doors.

"The Blue Boat is an inspiring space not just for dining but also for enjoying a drink with fantastic river views.”

She will be joined by Jon Pellew, head chef, who has transferred from the White Horse in Richmond, where he has built quite a name for himself among south-west London foodies.

The brewery is just two miles away and alongside its range of ales and beers including the recently launched new golden ale, Oliver's Island, and popular with punters, London Pride, the pub will also offer a menu packed with premium dishes including some of Fuller's specials such as the vintage ale sticky toffee pudding.

Jonathon Swaine, managing director of Fuller’s Inns, said: ‘The Blue Boat is a fantastic addition to our portfolio.

"It is set to be one of our flagship sites and I am looking forward to seeing this pub gain in popularity, especially on The Boat Race Day.”

Nick Hutchings, managing director, St George Central London, added: “St George is delighted to welcome the first bar and restaurant to its award winning riverside development, Fulham Reach.

"The Blue Boat will be an important part of the new community at Fulham Reach.”
