The nation will be on wedding watch this week as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot on Saturday May 19.

Harry and the former Suits actress will say "I do" in front of 600 guests at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

To celebrate the nuptials, Iceland is launching a limited edition lemon and elderflower cake - the same filling as the couple's wedding cake.

The supermarket's £8 two-tiered, three layered, light lemon sponge cake is filled with elderflower buttercream, Sicilian lemon curd and delicately finished with shimmered chocolate peals.

Neil Nugent, Head Chef at Iceland, said: “We want our customers to enjoy the royal wedding celebrations in style and what better way to do that than raising a glass of champagne to the newlyweds and having a slice of their actual wedding cake – well, kind of.

“The cake features everything the royal couple has asked for including a shimmery finish with chocolate pearls, light sponge and fragrant buttercream. I’d also recommend adding some wild flowers decorations to keep up the royal theme.”

Meghan is believed to have met Harry through her close friend Markus Anderson, in July 2016.

After four months of dating in privacy, the news of their romance finally leaked to the press. Fast-forward to the present day and a royal wedding is just a few days away.

News of the impending nuptials was announced by Kensington Palace on Twitter back in November 2017, the post read: "The marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will take place at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle in May 2018.

"Her Majesty The Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel.

"The Royal Family will pay for the wedding.

"Further details about the wedding will be announced in due course"

Iceland's offering is available to buy in stores from today, Monday, May 14.

It is only available while stocks last. There is a maximum buy of one cake per customer.
