Love it or hate it, Marmite is having a big moment right now.

Brands such as Marmite and Pot Noodle have been withdrawn from Tesco shelves in the UK after a dispute over pricing with brand owner Unilever.

Unilver, which owns brands including Persil, Ben & Jerry's and Flora, has reportedly demanded a price increase on its brands as the value of the pound plummets following the result of the EU referendum vote.

Certain items - including Marmite - have been disappearing from Tesco shelves amid the row over pricing after the supermarket refused the proposed price hike.

This argument has sparked a #MarmiteGate hashtag on Twitter, with Marmite-lovers worrying they may not be able to get their hands on the savoury snack for much longer.

But whatever the outcome, it's best to stuff your face with Marmite now, just in case you don't see it again for a while.

Here are four delicious recipes containing the brown stuff that you can make at home before it's too late!

Tesco: Mini Marmite Scones (serves 16)

Ingredients

250g of self-raising flour, plus a little extra dust

One teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda

Half a teaspoon of mustard powder

75g red Leicester or Cheddar cheese, grated

50g of cold unsalted butter, cut into chunks

150ml of buttermilk

One tablespoon of Marmite

Method

1) Heat oven to 200C. Put the flour, bicarbonate of soda, mustard powder and a pinch of salt into a bowl or a food processor. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. If you're not using a processor, rub the mixture with your fingers. Add the cheese and stir to combine.

2) Mix the buttermilk with the Marmite in a jug, stirring well to combine. Add this slowly to the dry ingredients, reserving a little in the jug. Lightly knead the mixture to form a soft dough. Don't overwork it or the scones will become tough.

3) Lightly coat your rolling pin in flour and then roll out the scone dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut out 16 rounds, using a 5cm round cutter, or slice into triangles if you don't have a cutter.

4) Transfer to a non-stick baking sheet, then brush the tops with the buttermilk and Marmite mixture that's left in the jug and bake for 15 minutes, until the scones are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
