The best pub in west London for a pint and a catch up is among the hustle and bustle of Paddington station.

The Mad Bishop and Bear, a Fuller's watering hole, has been named the pub of the year by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).

Located on the first floor of the station, which serves thousands of tube and rail users daily, await the kind and attentive team of bar staff led by manager Helen Wilson.

Beating off stiff competition, the judges who look at the atmosphere, level of service, value for money, community focus and quality of real ale being served were most impressed by the team here.

Jonathon Swaine, managing director for Fuller’s Inns, said: “This is an incredible accolade for Helen and her team at The Mad Bishop and Bear and, indeed, for Fuller’s.

"It is great to see all their hard work paying off, from being named Fuller’s Master Cellarman of the Year 2014 to now being the best pub in west London.

"You know that when you order a beer from Helen and her team it will be the closest thing to the perfect serve.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Helen and her team for all their passion and hard work’.”

The story behind the pub's name comes after a bishop who authorised the sale of the land, knowing its future value, hence the Mad Bishop, and the Bear, as everyone knows comes from Peru and like marmalade sandwiches.
