It may be a Scottish tradition, but lots of pubs and restaurants around Surrey and London will be celebrating Burns Night on and around January 25.

From traditional suppers with haggis, neeps and tatties, to evenings of song and dance, if you fancy celebrating the life of the National Bard, Robert Burns this month, take a look at some of the events below.

Who is Robert Burns?

Robert Burns (1759–1796) is Scotland’s national poet and his works are celebrated every year.

Born into a farming family in Ayrshire, he rose to become one of the great European poets of his age, a passionate and radical thinker and a pioneer of literary Romanticism.

Denbies, Dorking

A celebration of Robbie Burns will take place in the atmospheric Denbies Cellar followed by dinner and a traditional Scottish Ceilidh band in the Conservatory.

The country inn will be hosting a celebratory Burns Night supper with Berry Bros. and Rudd. The evening will begin with a toast, with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Brut on the terrace, followed by a hearty supper. No Burns Night would be complete without a wee dram and the evening will end with a glass of Glenfiddich IPA Cask, with an optional cigar.

The Spring Grove is opening its doors to celebrate the life of the national bard.
