A 17th century stumpwork embroidery workshop will be going ahead for three days in Headstone Manor and Harrow Museum.

Stumpwork dates back to the 17th century and has its own unique miniature style. Various techniques come together to make the whole, combining a range of stitchery, metal threads, areas in relief and wired free standing elements.

Using simple embroidery stitches and techniques and using the manor house, moat, barns and gardens as inspiration, students will make a sampler depicting all the components or a motif of just one subject.

This course is designed to introduce beginners to stumpwork embroidery, but also has scope for those with more experience to try some new techniques and develop individual ideas.
