Islanders call the out-side world Triangleland.

Most Islanders can't get enough of Henderson's Size Five Eggs - an addictive, yet tasteless government-produced snack. Halflings known as If'en scour the streets and Gods such as the Alephs dominate the plains.

Welcome to the fantasy world of Charles Avery. Since 2004, the intrepid artist has been travelling a creation of his own mind. Like JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings or role-play computer games it is a fairytale which becomes more credible and enticing with every discovery. The gallery walls are peppered with writing, to guide and amuse.

Drawings, paintings and sculptures illustrate, but always leave room for the imagination to wander further into this unfinished 10-year project. Avery draws on childhood memory from growing up on the Isle of Mull, which combined with his irreverent humour and a deep sense of enjoyment makes The Island a top travel destination pre Christmas.
