MULTI-TALENTED former politician Gyles Brandreth is stepping into the unlikely shoes of Lady Bracknell in perhaps the most memorable play penned by Oscar Wilde.

The entertainer, now commonly known for his appearances on The One Show, Just a Minute and Zipp! leads a fantastic cast in one of the greatest comedies in the English language, The Importance of Being Earnest.

Transformed into a toe-tapping musical, the show takes us through the well-known web of confused identities and double-dealing, with a little poignancy thrown in for good measure, echoed in those immortal words: 'a handbag'.

Directed by Iqbal Khan, scripted by award-winning screenwriter Douglas Livingstone and a score composed by Adam McGuinness and Zia Moranne, this premiere is set to be the must-see musical of the season, if only to see Gyles in a frock.
