ZIPPOS Circus returns to Willesden with a new touring show for 2010 called, Encore!

Led by Ringmaster Norman Barrett, who collected an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours, the circus includes a new heart-stopping high-wire act from Colombian father-and-son duo, Chico and Enesto, as well as extraordinary hand-to-hand acrobatics from Chinese artists Ying and Yang.

There are beautiful liberty horses and, back by popular demand, the hilarious Konyot slapstick clowns.

Solo art exhibition

ABSTRACT painter John Blandy produced 2,000 pastel works as part of his solo exhibition called Following A Lime Tree.

The acclaimed artist started in 1997, building up a series of paintings of a lime tree in Queen's Park, a short stretch on the Seacourt near Oxford, that track the changes of weather and season on a daily basis.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, whose work forms part of the permanent collections in Hammersmith Hospital and St George's Hospital, Tooting, Mr Blandy's exhibition opened at The Gallery at Willesden Green on Tuesday, August 14.

The preview party, to be held on Thursday September 16 between 6pm and 8pm, will feature a live jazz fusion performance by Fogo Brasiliera.

Tamara Drewe screening

QUIZ the team behind the new drama Tamara Drewe at a special screening of the film at Kilburn's Tricycle Cinema.

Adapted from a comic strip that appears in The Guardian, the film stars Gemma Arterton as lead character Tamara, a glamorous newspaper columnist whose past catches up with her when she returns home and meets an old flame.

Oscar-nominated director Stephen Frears and writer Moira Buffini will take part in a question and answer session, following the showing of the 112-minute long, 15-rated film on Tuesday, September 14.

Stephen Fry reads from The Fry Chronicles screening beamed to Harrow Vue.

He is performing on Monday, September 13, at the Royal Festival Hall, where he will take part in a question and answer session after regaling the audience with tales from his latest book, The Fry Chronicles, which covers some of the most turbulent years of his life.

Overwhelming demand for tickets to this rare live 1hour 45minute appearance led to many of Stephen's fans being left disappointed, so Vue cinemas stepped in to broadcast the event simultaneously to 16 of its screens across the UK.

Chill out with Los Pacaminos

CHART-topping singer Paul Young, one of the UK's best loved vocalists, returns to Ruislip with his seven-piece Tex-Mex band, Los Pacaminos.

Formed in 1995, when Paul was between record labels and had a burning desire to 'get back to basics', the group offer a mix of Tex-Mex classics, Spanish songs and original material.

Fellow group members have worked with some of the best names in the business, including Leo Sayer, Robbie Williams, Queen, Pete Townsend, Jools Holland and Alison Moyet.

Their set will include songs such as Wooly Bully, La Bamba and even Speedy Gonzales, if enough tequila is flowing.
