Wartime memories

AN EXHIBITION to mark Holocaust Memorial Week is on display at Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue.

Memories, a collection of paintings and poetry by Northwood resident Maria Tudosa (pictured) reflects on her experiences during the Second World War.

Maria was brought up in a small town in Romania with a vibrant Jewish community. She and her daughter, Nelly Miricioiu, are both of the Christian Orthodox faith.

Life was idyllic for all, but this came to an abrupt end at the outbreak of war. Most of Maria's friends and neighbours would eventually perish.

Her work represents the journey of the human spirit towards God, through dangerous and dark landscapes.
