ONE of the UK's best and longest-running tributes to Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry pays a visit to Ruislip this Friday.

Roxy Magic recreates the diverse music and imagery of their hugely influential and iconic heroes, led by Bryan Ferry look and sound-a-like Keith Hackett.

This is a great opportunity to remember and enjoy Virginia Plain, Avalon, Dance Away, Street Life, Love is the Drug and Angel Eyes, and some of the many massive hits, including Re-Make/ Re-Model, Ladytron and If There Is Something, which featured in the Daniel Craig film, Flashbacks of a Fool.

Take part in the Lido Lap

FAMILIES can enjoy an array of activities during a fun day in Ruislip Lido to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

A sponsored 5km run to raise cash for the RAF Benevolent Fund, plus a shorter Lido Lap, will begin at noon, while a special Battle of Britain fly-past will see a Spitfire and Hurricane flying overhead just after 2pm from RAF Northolt, subject to weather conditions.

Other attractions include live music from RAF Halton Swing Band, tug-of-war and marching competitions, a historic car display featuring more than 40 vehicles, and face painting.

This is the second year Hillingdon Council has organised a special family fun day and is one of many events marking the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, to remember those who fought so bravely.

Autumn wildlife walk

SUMMER is officially over, and as the leaves begin to fall, what better way to start the new season than with an autumn wildlife walk?

Amateur birdwatcher and bird ringer Dave Bookless will lead the walk through Minet Country Park in Hayes, where you can discover how to identify various birds.

The park has myriad habitats connected by a network of hedges, waterways and grassland corridors, home to numerous wild plants, insects and many other creatures.

It may be muddy so bring suitable footwear. Binoculars are available on loan.

STAND-UP comedian Simon Brodkin returns to the Comedy Bunker as his alter-ego, happy-go-lucky South London geezer Lee 'Nelsy' Nelson, for an exclusive preview of his new full-length show prior to a national tour.

Hailed as 'shrapnel sharp' by the London Evening Standard, Brodkin is fast becoming a household name thanks to his comedy character, which has even earned him praise from his peers, including fellow funnyman Harry Hill.

Put on your walking boots for Michael Sobell House Hospice and raise cash for much-needed services

DIG out your walking boots and help raise money for a fantastic cause by taking part in Michael Sobell House Hospice's annual sponsored walk.

Participants have the option of a three-mile stroll, seven-mile hike or 12-mile trek through beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, starting and ending at the hospice at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood.

Refreshments will be provided at strategic points on route and relaxing foot and leg massages will be available to soothe tired, aching feet.

By raising sponsorship, walkers will make a real difference to patient care at the hospice, which needs to raise £1.2million every year to maintain its services. Children and dogs are welcome.
