A church which finds modern ways to explore faith is holding a very traditional Christmas fayre in Brentford.

Equippers Church West is based at The Lounge, in The Market Building, on the corner of Tallow Road but also holds a weekly Sunday service at The Waterman’s Art Centre.

It has been in existence since 2000 and under the pastorship of Stuart Cosstick who along with his team of volunteers is aiming to show the local community what his church is all about.

To encourage more people to visit and see for themselves they are holding an event on Sunday November 30 called Equipped for Christmas Gift Fayre.

It will be their first ever of its type and wants to simply be fun and festive and bring people together.

Stalls will be set up, each offering something different, local and handmade from soft toys, wooden gifts, cupcakes, silver jewellery and even a photographic display.

A local baker is making a special Christmas cake which people will be invited to guess the weight of with the winner getting to take the whole thing home.

If all that isn’t enough, free mulled wine and mince pies will also be served.

All the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Shelter Project which is running for the fourth year in Brentford and will see several churches become shelters at night for homeless people.

Equippers get around 50 people a week attend the youth group it runs as well as many local mums who come for the Kids and Coffee morning.

Their Sunday service which takes place at 10am features electric guitars and drums instead of hymns.

Mr Cosstick said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the local community to our event and hope to be able to raise much needed funds for the Shelter Project.”

The event is on Sunday November 30 from 2-5pm
