An Easter egg hunt with a twist is set to keep shoppers egg-citedly scurrying around Hounslow town centre over the holidays.

A number of hidden eggs have been dotted around the shopping centre, each with a letter, which once unscrambled reveals a phrase.

To enter the Easter egg trail pick up an entry form from a participating store and look for the special eggs displayed in shop windows, jot down the letter, and once you've cracked the anagram post the form with the answer in the box near the entrance to Hounslow Library.

Winners will be in with the chance of receiving a chocolate egg or a shopping voucher worth up to £10.

Janet Leatherland from the Treaty Centre said: “The Treaty Centre is delighted to be working with other town centre businesses and the council for the benefit of all residents and visitors to Hounslow.

"This will be a fun, family activity for the school holidays and we’ve got some great prizes.

“This is the first time we’ve done something like this and we are already planning similar events for later in the year.”

The hunt, which takes place between Saturday March 28 and Sunday April 12, has been organised by the Treaty Centre which has teamed up with the Blenheim Centre, Hounslow council, and Hounslow Arts Trust as well as local businesses to offer egg-travagant fun during the holidays.

Participating retailers include Asda, B&M, Toys UK, Debenhams, Wilkinson, Langfords, Primark and Specsavers.

Winners will be contacted directly after the closing date.

Councillor Sachin Gupta, cabinet member for public health and leisure, said: “The activities in Hounslow town centre are a great way to keep the kids entertained during the holidays.

“We’re putting the finishing touches to extensive repaving across the area and there’s new street furniture and lighting installed, as well as new trees.

“Whether you’re a shopaholic or a bookworm, head to the town centre and take a fresh look at the borough’s number one shopping destination.”

At Hounslow Library, between April 7 to 9, there will be Easter-themed activities including under five's story time and crafts as well as advice on how to publish a historical novel.
