It has become a tradition for Royal Mail to 'team up' with Santa and his elves in the run up to Christmas Day.

So, if your little one is planning on sending a letter to Father Christmas, then you've only got a few days left to post it to Reindeerland.

The postal deadline is Friday, December 8. The date allows Royal Mail the best possible chance of replying to all the letters before December 25.

Once your letter has been posted it goes on a special 'magical journey', which the postal service has documented on its website.

When a letter has been received by its 'sorters', it's then sent off to the North Pole in a giant red hot air balloon.

After Santa has read it, the letter gets passed on to the elves in the toy factory, who then get to work making all the presents.

On Christmas Eve Santa piles all the toys on his sleigh and sets about making his worldwide journey, delivering toys to all the good little boys and girls.
