Joan Noble, a South African born artist from Stanmore, is hosting an exhibition of her work at the Etz Chayim Gallery in Northwood until January 19, 2008.

The show will be Joan's third in a year after she originally exhibited at The Ben Uri Gallery in Camden as part of the Solo Fortnight, which provides exposure for new artists.

Joan, who has developed a variety of work over 12 years, says: "The response to the last two exhibitions was very encouraging and I felt the time was right to show my work again.

"The opening night, which took place on Wednesday, November 26, went really well, with about 50 people in attendance, and I was pleased to sell 11 paintings."

Joan's work ranges from vibrant landscapes and still life paintings to complex and highly textured multimedia collages, with layers revealing secrets that build a picture over time.

Oil and acrylic paint, embellished paper, silks, texts, self-printed fabrics and rich threads combine to create a highly textured and layered surface that conceals, reveals and builds to create a personal tale.

Joan explains: "The themes at the core of my work are a love of the natural world, my Jewish heritage and the permanence of family life.

"My art is a journey of growth, change and experimentation, which comes from my restless and inquisitive view of the world and exposure to new experiences."
