Photography enthusiasts, amateur snappers and anyone with an eye for artistic prints will be delighted to view Harrow Camera Club's exhibition in the next few weeks, writes ROSIE CHRISTOPHER

STANMORE library is filled with splashes of colour and some amazing photographic images across a wide range of subjects while it hosts the annual Harrow Camera Club Exhibition.

This impressive collection includes 79 photographs with a variety of subject matters, including landscapes, portraits and the natural world, alongside other more abstract images, all taken by the club's members.

Titles include Sunlit Giant Rhubarb Leaf, by Denise Bowman-Morris, Going Flat Out, by Bill Greenwood, Hoverfly (I am not a wasp!), by Avril Chandler, and At Lake Louise, by Judy Buckley-Sharp.

Harrow Camera Club is part of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs and boasts about 70 members.

Organisers of the exhibition, which runs at the Stanmore Hill library until September 23, hope that those viewing the photographs may be inspired to join.

Club committee member Avril Chandler said: "It is a friendly, encouraging club where technical and artistic skills can be improved and developed.

"The club's programme is varied, comprising of a mixture of competition, talks and workshops, all of which contribute to understanding and learning."

The Harrow Camera Club was formed in 1933, long before the digital age that has made photography so much more accessible.

Over the years it has moved with the times and this exhibition demonstrates the passion and enthusiasm its members have for capturing the world around them through the lens.

Mrs Chandler said: "It's amazing when you see something you wouldn't usually notice and capture it on film."

Membership is open to anyone interested in photography, either film or digital, and who wishes to develop their skills and to participate in club events.

The club meets on Tuesday evenings between 7.45pm and 10pm at Guide Headquarters, Leeway Close in Hatch End.

Anyone interested in joining is welcome to take part in three free meetings to sample the activities before deciding whether to join.

Membership costs from £28 and there is usually an attendance charge of £1 for each meeting.

The exhibition is on show during Stanmore Library opening hours until the afternoon of Thursday, September 23.
