The organiser of a new festival hopes it will become west London's answer to Disney's Epcot theme park in Florida.

The Welcome to Asia festival in Lampton Park, Hounslow, on July 25 and 26, is described as a two-day celebration of eastern culture and food.

Promoters say it will feature live music and dance from countries across Asia, with audiences able to enjoy everything from dragon dancing to belly dancing.

There will also be sports demonstrations, fashion and beauty stalls, and children's rides, among other attractions.

Organiser Roselle Collado said she hoped the event would mirror the success of Epcot, which celebrates the culture and achievements of nations across the globe and is sometimes referred to as a permanent World's Fair.

"The aim is to be something like Epcot but just for Asia, with every country having its own area showcasing its food and culture," she said.

"Visitors will be able to learn about other cultures and hopefully it will help bring all the different communities together."

The event replaces last year's Hounslow Summer Festival, which organisers said pulled in 14,500 punters to Lampton Park over two days.

Emmanuel 'Manny' Vass

A Filipino pianist scaling the heights of the classical music charts will appear at the event.

Emmanuel 'Manny' Vass's debut album Sonic Waves swept to the top of the UK Official Specialist Classical Albums Chart and remains in the top five after four weeks.

The 26-year-old, who was born in Manila, in the Philippines, and grew up in Yorkshire, has been named by The Independent as "one to watch" and by BBC Music Magazine as its unsigned artist of the month.

He is a late addition to the line-up for the festival which will run from 10am to 8pm each day, with a mass at 10.30am on the Sunday followed by a cultural parade at 11.30am.

Tickets will cost just £2 per day, with children aged 12 or under and adults aged 60 or above able to get in for free.
