Muslims are extending an invitation to Harrow residents of all faiths to join them on 'Visit My Mosque Day' this Sunday.

Members of the Shia Ithna'ashari Community of Middlesex (SICM) in will be welcoming visitors to Mahfil Ali at 39 Gloucester Road, Harrow, opposite the Murco petrol station from 2pm to 4pm on February 1.

The group has been distributing leaflets to invite local residents to come in and find out what they do, as well as ask questions about Islam or about the ongoing building works for the multi-purpose Salaam Centre in Harrow.

Executive Committee member Miqdaad Versi said: "This open day is part of a series of outreach work done by our organisation in the past few months. This has included a range of interfaith and social action programmes with the local community. The next such session is an interfaith dessert bake-off on February 7th at 2-4pm, co-organised by North Harrow Methodist Church, St. Alban's Church and our community."

Mr Versi said the event is intended to reach out and promote community cohesion, encourage deeper cultural and religious understanding and above all, to provide the opportunity to for more people to get to know one another over tea and biscuits.
