Looking for ways to entertain your children during the half-term holidays, and beyond into Christmas?

Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford has announced a brilliant autumn/winter season of theatre, workshops, arts and film especially for children, so your little ones will never be bored!

As well as loads of brilliant theatre on over the coming months, there will be a whole week of half-term activities in Fables and Fairytales Week from Tuesday October 25 to Saturday October 29.

Here are all the exciting theatre and arts activities going on at Watermans over the coming months.

Tetris

Sunday October 16

Tetris is a piece of dance theatre for children based on the famous computer game of strategy and fun. Four dancers work as a perfect unit, uniquely dependent on one another, their legs and arms twisted together in complex knots!

Inspired by playground games and the casual way that kids fling themselves about, amazing dancers tumble and contort, exploring the limits of their bodies in this acrobatic show.

Penguinpig

Sunday October 23

Penguinpig is based on the best-selling picture book by Stuart Spendlow and illustrated by Amy Bradley.

Phoebe reads about an exciting creature called a Penguinpig on the Internet. Filled with delight and intrigue, she sneaks out of the house and sets off alone on an adventure to find the adorable creature leading her to the Zoo... But what will she find inside?

October Half-Term: Fables and Fairytales Week

Tuesday October 25 to Saturday October 29

Explore the world of traditional tales in a week designed to bring fables and fairytales to life!

Highlights of the week include: Tin Soldier (theatre), Tin Soldier Creative Workshops including storytelling and circus skills, Dream Catchers (workshop), The Three Little Pigs Musical Adventure (interactive theatre), Hum the Elephant Musical Adventure (interactive musical), and much more!

All events are suitable for children aged three to eight and their families.

The Tin Soldier

Tuesday October 25 to Saturday October 29

The Tin Soldier is one of the highlights of Fairytales and Fables Week at Watermans.

It's winter and a newly minted tin soldier stands on a single leg, having been the last one cast from an old tin spoon. Nearby, he spies a paper ballerina, also standing on one leg, and the soldier falls in love.

But the course of true love cannot run smooth and the soldier falls into an adventure to test and melt the bravest of hearts...

Rapunzel and the Temple of Doom

Sunday November 6

Tangles? Split Ends? Frizzy? Flyaway? It's hard enough having a bad hair day but pity poor Rapunzel spending her life in a tower with a wicked old witch using her captive's locks as a step ladder!

This enchanting show promises plenty of volume and loads of highlights... Don't miss out on it!

The Tinderbox

Sunday November 13

Norwich Puppet Theatre breathes new life into Hans Christian Andersen's tale of magic, bravery and love with puppetry, animation and music.

A roguish soldier acquires a magic tinderbox which gives him the power to summon three extraordinary dogs to do his bidding. The soldier goes on a remarkable roller coaster adventure from rags to riches and back again! Will he survive and win the love of the beautiful princess?

Gingerbread!

Sunday November 20

Martin is busy baking biscuits and cakes in the kitchen. As he mixes the sugars and spices to tell the story of The Gingerbread Man, he adds a sprinkling of songs and a generous helping of humour, and combines it all with his amazing glove puppetry!

Silver Moon

Sunday November 27

A seasonal and touching tale about the value of friendship and the power of the imagination.

On a cold Christmas Eve two children meet unexpectedly. Helda may be poor and lonely but her imagination is filled with her grandfather's folk tales. Jurgen may be surrounded by beautifully wrapped presents but he needs a friend to make his everyday magical.

But what will happen when the clock strikes midnight and the silver moon is high in the air?

Burglar Bill

Sunday December 4

A fun and engaging stage adaptation of Janet and Allan Ahlberg's charming picture book Burglar Bill.

Capturing the spirit of the book and with an exciting set featuring lots of windows to climb through, Burglar Bill and Burglar Betty tell this much loved story with the help of puppets, music, song and dance.

Snow Play

Thursday December 8 to Thursday December 29

What would you do if one year Winter decided to stay and moved into your house? You'd have icicles in the kitchen and snow all over your bed!

Well that's what happens in our snowy spectacular show where you're guaranteed a white Christmas, no matter what the weather or the time of year.
