A church garden in Chiswick will be transformed into a festival of fun, music and magic as a local theatre group takes people back to the hippy hazy days of the 1960s.

To mark its 65th anniversary, St Michael's Players are celebrating with an open air production of one of Shakespeare's popular comedies.

The drama group will stage the hilarious tale of star-crossed lovers in A Midsummer Night's Dream in the glorious gardens at St Paul's Church in the first week of July.

The production will have a Woodstock-inspired rock festival theme which promises to be its most lavish yet, complete with a live band, barbecue and beer tent.

Families should expect mischief, tiffs, trickery and down-to-earth humour in a hilarious evening of theatre under the stars.

St Michael's Players first came onto the arts scene in 1949 and have become a regular fixture in front of audiences in west London.

Watch A Midsummer Night's Dream from Wednesday July 1 to Saturday July 4.

Seating is all open-air, on the grass, with limited traditional seating which can be reserved.

Tickets are on sale now via the St Michaels’ website.
