It has been announced that Gary Barlow will be doing England’s World Cup song for 2014.

So, just for fun, we’ve put together a survey to find out what our readers think is England’s best World Cup or European Championship song.

So if you think John Barnes rapping to the lyrics of World In Motion trumps Three Lions on a shirt, a bucket of vindaloo trumps the lot then show your support by clicking on poll below.

And the winner is………. World in Motion by New Order. Yes it seems our readers are mad for Italia 90 classic World in Motion as it ran away with 42% of the vote. How much of that vote was for the John Barnes rap we don’t know.

In second place was, no big surprise here, Three Lions by Baddiel & Skinner and the Lightning Seeds, which got 30% of the vote. Fat Les’ Vindaloo makes up the top three and got 10% of votes.

Surprise nominees were Chris Kamara’s 2004 “hit” Sing 4 England, which got a staggering one vote.

Ant and Dec’s We’re on the Ball drew two votes, while 1982’s rather inappropriately named This Time We’ll get it Right got 3% of the votes.

Songs that failed to get any votes include Embrace’s 2006 song World at your Feet, 1986’s We’ve got the Whole World at our Feet, and 1988’s All the Way for England. Three Lions proved to be more popular with men than women. Only 16% of women voted for the song, while 33% of men opted for the 90s classic.

Almost 58% of Man City fans voted for World in Motion with just 21% going for Three Lions. Compare this with Man Utd where only 46% of their fans went for the New Order song - though more than twice as many United fans took part in the survey than City fans.

The winning song varies by age group as well. 18-30 year olds voted in favour of Three Lions over World in Motion - 35% v 31%, while 31-40 year-olds voted in favour of World in Motion over Three Lions - 59% v 17%.
