Is 'The Beast' Reawakening?

Re-awakening: Adebayo Akinfenwa

Adebayo Akinfenwa has looked off the pace early on this season, but two goals in as many weeks, including yesterday's late winner suggest Dons' talismanic leader of the line is turning a corner.

His goal last week saved a late point on the road and he would have pulled Neal Ardley's men level in the first half against County, but for a world-class stop by former Manchester United custodian Roy Carroll.

Through an increasingly frustrating second half, the big man stayed involved in the game looking for the opportunity before arriving right on cue to head home the dramatic 89th minute winner.

Have Dons discovered the art of winning ugly?

Dramatic as the finale at Kingsmeadow was, boss Ardley will know his team has played better than that at home this season and lost - and that is a massive plus.

For all their second-half pressure, even the most ardent fans weren't sure their beloved Wombles were going to produce the turnaround which finally materialised, but if bloody-mindedness counts for anything, Ardley's men will win more games like this.

Ardley Time

Watching the clock: Neal Ardley

It's not quite 'Fergie Time' but late goals are becoming a habit.

Of the 12 points Dons have won so far this season, eight of them have been secured by goals in the final quarter of an hour. If that trend continues it will send a message to opponents if you don't kill Wimbledon off you'll pay for it.

Experience at the back paying dividends

Solid: Paul Robinson

Neal Ardley called his side naive a number of times last season, so brought in the likes of Jonathan Meades and Paul Robinson to help manage games better.

The result is Dons look much more solid in front of James Shea. That said, the goal conceded against County was another set piece - the one area defensively which remains a concern.
