Harrow under-13s triumphantly ended their 2007/8 season by overcoming the challenges of teams from Middlesex, Essex and Hertfordshire in the annual invitation festival held at the Club's ground in Wood Lane, Stanmore.

It was the first time that the home club had won the festival, and the victory confirmed their status as one of the strongest squads in the country.

Harrow had not played a competitive match since their creditable performance at the three-day national tournament in Nottingham in March, where they reached the semi-finals, losing narrowly when severely hampered by injuries.

But there were no such misfortunes this time though and, with all players fit again, Harrow stormed to victory in their opening match against Barking running in six tries without reply.

London Welsh fared no better in Harrow's next match when the rampant Harrow backs sliced the Welsh defence to pieces running in another six tries.

In the final Harrow came up against a classy Wasps side but relentless pressure at the breakdown by back rows Abel

Leaman and Gregor Allan eventually broke their resistance and created the platform for yet another crushing victory, this time by 31 points to 10.

Prop Zec Knight scored eight of Harrow's 17 tries, Luis Cain (three), David Quartey (two), Kyle Otoo, Sam Bailey, PJ Harriott, Ben Elliget and Brody Gates adding the others.

After the matches, captain Abel Leaman paid tribute to the under-13s

coaches for moulding the raw natural talent of the many newcomers in the squad into a formidable team.

There were special mentions from him too for the three players of the year, Zec Knight, second row Brody Gates and winger Luis Cain for their vital contributions to the team's success, as well as full back Ben Murray for his peerless goal-kicking and for the impeccable, play-anywhere, Adam Driver.
