The scrum-half, who made his England sevens debut during the 2002 Malaysian leg of the IRB world sevens series, is set to make his first appearance in the Commonwealth Games.

Despite making his debut eight years ago, the 28-year-old had to wait until 2008 for his next call up and has since helped England to World Series tournament successes in Wellington and London during the 2008/09 season.

England, who claimed the silver medal in the 2006 games, kick off their Commonwealth campaign against Namibia on October 11 and will also face Australia and Sri Lanka in group D, with the top two teams of each group qualifying for the quarter finals.

Speaking ahead of the games, England’s Sevens Coach Ben Ryan said: "I’m very pleased with the squad and we're looking forward to what should be a hotly contested Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens in Delhi.

"There will big guns like New Zealand, who have won three gold medals since Rugby Sevens was introduced to the Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, Samoa, who won the last World Series, and Australia will also be strong, so we’re certainly not going to be the favorites.

"But we’re fit and well prepared, and we have a hungry squad with a good blend of youth and experience who are desperate to wear the England shirt and will give their all to succeed in Delhi.”

Squad: Greg Barden, Kevin Barrett , John Brake, Dan Caprice, Chris Cracknell, Isoa Damudamu, Ben Gollings (cpt), Simon Hunt, Dan Norton, Tom Powell, James Rodwell, Mathew Turner.
