London Scottish have thrown down the gauntlet to their National Division Three (South) rivals with two more high-quality signings.

They followed the recent capture of ex-England Sevens star Simon Amor with deals for two more former Premiership players. Joining the Scottish revolution are former Harlequins captain and Wasps back-rower Paul Volley, along with ex-Sale Sharks, Saracens, Borders and Edinburgh man Ian Fullarton.

While Volley is widely regarded as one of the best Premiership players never to have played for England, former Scotland international

Fullarton won eight caps after making his debut against the All Blacks in 2000.

He said: "I received many offers, but Scottish went out of their way to make me feel welcome and help me with business

opportunities in London. "Obviously being a Scottish lad helps, and I hope I can help to make this my spiritual home and the club get promotion this season. "It may be a step down in playing level but with this squad of play-ers it will make it a really great place to play rugby next season."

For Volley, Scottish's opening league game on September 8 against Chinnor, his first club, will be a step back in time.

He said: "I am excited by the challenge of getting Scottish back up the leagues, playing some good competitive rugby and having some fun along the way. It is a great set up and the calibre of player joining, shows the ambitions and exciting plans."

Other ex-Premiership players in Scottish's ranks next season include James Brown, Gary Truman and Mark Soden.
