ED LEWIS-PRATT was praised by head coach Danny Wilson following London Welsh's 22-9 win over Plymouth Albion on Saturday.

Chances have been few and far between for the former London Irish full-back since he joined Welsh last summer.

But Wilson had no hesitation in pitching him in at an unfamiliar position against Albion.

He said: "I was really pleased with Ed Lewis-Pratt's performance. He is a full back/wing who can play at No.10 too.

"He would be the first to admit that it's not his first choice position, but he's quite capable in that role as he's proven for us in mid-week development matches this season.

"So I had no problem with Ed coming in there. I thought his attitude was superb, and he got our running rugby going really well."

Lewis-Pratt kicked a penalty and two conversions as all the points were scored in the first-half at Old Deer Park.

Former Wasps and England winger Paul Sampson bagged two tries, while Sunia Koto Vuli notched Welsh's first.

But Wilson reckons there is still room for improvement.

He added: "To have as much possession and territory as we had and not come away with a bonus point is disappointing.

"Having said that, our objective was a four-point home win, which we achieved, and we did so by playing some really good high-tempo, wide-running rugby.

"We tried to play with similar width in the second-half but made far too many errors and let them off them hook.

"Manchester next Saturday is another opportunity to target a four-point win we desperately need, and if and when appropriate, we can go looking for the bonus point."
