HATFIELD (20) V NORTHOLT (10) - HERTS MIDDX 4

Another fine performance from Northolt nearly gave them a win against Hatfield but held them in good stead for the season.

Hatfield started off stronger and ran in 15 quick unanswered points before Northolt took a grip of their game. Both sides then matched each other before Northolt drove the ball upfield with 10 minutes to the interval. Good support play in a 35 yard drive ended with Mark Johnson scoring a try which Niall O'Gorman converted.

Just before half time Hatfield attacked from the back but a kick on the halfway line was charged down by Kenny, who proceeded to dribble the ball upfield. Unfortunately the last bounce fell awkwardly and the ball crossed the dead ball line to leave the half-time score 15-7 to Hatfield.

The 2nd half started much as the 1st with Hatfield scoring early before Northolt took charge of the game. Wayne Meek kicked a penalty to bring the scores to 20-10 but neither side could then break the deadlock.

Next week Northolt are away to High Wycombe 3rds.
