Warren Gatland has named his squad for the 2017 British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand and there was no place for England skipper Dylan Hartley.

It is not the first time an England skipper has been snubbed, with Hartley becoming the third captain of the Red Rose in succession to miss out, following Steve Borthwick in 2009 and Chris Robshaw in 2013.

Sam Warburton, the former Wales captain, has been named as Gatland's skipper for the tour.

Rugby fans have been digesting the news of the Lions announcement for the tour. We now know who is in the squad and it gives us an insight into how Gatland plans to line up.

Our journalists hosted a podcast with all four nations considering the impact of the Lions selection.

Matt Southcombe was joined by the Mirror's Alex Spink, Wales Online's Simon Thomas, the Irish Mirror's Michael Scully and The Daily Record's Gordon Parks to find out.
