Jersey 18-28 Ealing Trailfinders

Phil Chesters bagged two tries as Ealing Trailfinders registered their first ever points in the Championship.

The success has been a long time coming, with nine successive defeats not even yieldiing a single bonus point.

But they ran in four tries against their old Channel Island rivals to give them some hope.

Tom Bedford and Andrew Henderson were the other men crossing the whitewash in front of nearly 2,000 fans, while Ben Ward converted all four touchdowns.

The west Londoners will be particularly pleased they rallied so well in the second half, having come in 15-7 down at the interval.

There have been signs of improvement in recent matches after a torrid start to the campaign. Even so, tries have been at a premium, so running in four makes a welcome change.

For all that, Ealing remain six points adrift of Jersey at the foot of the table.
