Herts/Middlesex Division Two

Hillingdon Abbots 52

Watford 12

Hillingdon Abbots stormed to a 52-12 victory against Watford to maintain their stay at the top of the table, writes Sean Davies.

An astounding performance saw the hosts go into the break with a 33-0 lead as they continued their hunt for promotion to the first division.

Neil Gordge (pictured) scored the try of the match as he broke out and made the 40-yard dash to the line to cross the whitewash.

Abbots dominated possession and repeatedly broke the visitors’ defensive line with ease as centre Ben Foster opened the scoring.

Man of the match Dave Francis produced a resounding performance in midfield and scored the try his performance deserved.

With plenty of the ball available, Abbots opened up their back line and winger Dyneil Fessal benefited from a quick off load to fly down the wing and score his first of two tries in the half.

The home side stuck to the game plan of counter-rucking well and produced an opportunity for forward Kyle Buckingham to slip out of a tackle and run 45 metres to secure the bonus point for the home side.

A further try from Fessal and extras from Elliot wake saw the game out of reach of the visitors before half time.

The visitors came out for the second half a different side and with Abbots momentarily taking their eye off the ball, Watford breached the defensive line to score a converted try.

As the home side took their foot off the pedal, a massive push by Watford saw them drive over the line for their second.

With the game stretched and just 15 minutes to play Brad Buckingham was given an easy passage to register his first points.

Further tries came from Gordge and Wake, who weaved his way through 50 metres of traffic to cross the line and complete the scoring.

In the same division, Uxbridge were handed an away walk over as Ickenham failed to field a side.

In London One North, Ruislip recorded a home victory fending off Ipswich 34-17 and will travel to Luton for their next fixture.
