There were dark mutterings around the QPR dressing room the ball thrown by a steward that hit Harry Redknapp looked very suspicious.

The QPR manager was struck by the match ball seconds after a first throw from the crowd hit assistant Joe Jordan.

The Scot had his glasses knocked from his head, and afterwards sported a nasty graze and cut around his right eye.

The home team’s contention was they wanted the ball back into play quickly, and straight from the long throw that followed, Millwall stormed down the other end and notched a 92 minute equaliser for a final score 2-2.

Striker Niko Kranjcar, whose peach gave Rangers the lead, reckoned the incident had nothing to do with the gutting goal that ruined a three-match winning streak.

“I don’t think it distracted anyone,” he said. “We didn’t play well for the last 15 minutes. We didn’t keep the ball like we did for the rest of the game and for the time I’ve been here.

“But fair enough to them. They kept the pressure going and they got a lucky break with the goal, because it came back off one of our players to him (scorer, Jermaine Easter).

“We were down in the dressing room afterwards because we were winning until the last kick, and felt we had done enough.”

As much as Kranjcar enjoyed his first goal for Rangers, it’s down the list of the Croatian’s all time favourites.

“It’s not in my top four,” he said. “But I caught it nicely.”
