CHRIS York has warned his Harlequins team-mates there are few things more dangerous than a wounded Tiger ahead of Saturday's trip to Welford Road.

Leicester Tigers, Premiership champions for two of the last three years, find themselves in the unfamiliar territory of ninth place, having lost four of their five opening games.

Harlequins, by contrast, are flying high at the top of the table having won five out of five, having beaten Sale Sharks 48-41 on Saturday.

But York warned: “It won't be long before Leicester come good and give someone a hiding soon. Everybody expects a physical battle there, however badly they are doing.

“We certainly won't go into the game thinking we just have to turn up and win, because we know how dangerous they can be, especially at Welford Road.”

To maintain their 100 per cent start to the season, York insists Quins will have to stay focused for the whole 80 minutes – something they have failed to do in their last two games.

At Worcester, Quins were second best for an hour before switching on and snatching victory in the last 20 minutes, while against Sale, Quins were the dominant ones for the first hour before letting Sale back in late on and almost throwing it away.

Quins led 38-12 at half time through a brace of tries from Mike Brown, plus others from Ollie Kohn, Mark Lambert and George Lowe, followed by a Nick Evans try shortly after the break, but let Sale in for four tries in the last quarter.

York said: “After the Worcester game we knew we had not performed, and knew if we played like that again we might not be so lucky next time.

“Playing at home makes a massive difference, and we were so fired up for Sale, determined to set a new benchmark – which we did for 60 minutes, then failed to close the game down.

“But games are for 80 minutes, and if we just play for one half, we have to realise than teams can put as many points back on us as we have to them, as Sale almost did.”
