Eastcote 3 Slough 5

Ill discipline cost Eastcote victory and possibly their chance of promotion too as they let slip a 3-1 lead at home to mid-table Slough.

The Boars were on course for their sixth win from eight games in the Middlesex, Berks, Bucks and Oxon Regional League after coming from a goal down to lead 3-1.

However, yellow cards for coach Adam Mulholland and scorer Gary Towns gave Slough momentum they had started to gather regardless, and they came through to win with four unanswered goals.

Eastcote conceded an early goal but they were firmly on top after 25 minutes after Ben Green, from a short corner, Towns, with a firm shot after good work down the right and a James O'Shea solo effort, took them 3-1 up.

It started to go wrong from then on, though, as Slough equalised with two goals from open play just before half-time and after the break Mulholland and Towns spent time on the sidelines.

The teamwork disappeared and the visitors struck twice more to hand East-cote a painful defeat which left them in fourth place, six points off leaders Milton Keynes.

They cannot afford to slip up away to second bottom Amersham and Chalfont on Saturday.

The second team drew 2-2 at Ashford with goals from Josh Moore and Ian Sadler, but they should have won the game, while the thirds thrashed South Bucks 9-0 with Jish Uddin, Matt Ashton and Chris Akhurst among the scorers with two apiece.

The Simbas also returned to winning ways with an 8-1 win over Ashford while the Sevens and Past Masters also won and the fifth and sixth teams drew.

LADIES: Oxford University 0 Eastcote 1

SUDDENLY Eastcote ladies look comfortably in mid-table after their long-awaited first league win of the season was followed immediately by their second.

Two weeks ago the Reds were teetering above the relegation zone but Saturday's 1-0 success at Oxford University made it back to back wins for Eastcote, who moved up to fifth place in Division Two of the South League.

Oxford came into the game only one place below Eastcote but the visitors started well and were given an early boost by an early goal from Emily Reed.

The ball was worked up the left and Sian Bailey drove the baseline before squaring for Reed to convert from close range.

Eastcote pressed at every opportunity, asking a lot of questions of Oxford, and were unfortunate not to put more chances away.

In the second half Eastcote allowed Oxford back into the game but strong defending from the back four kept them at bay to hang on to the points.

They host third-placed Maidenhead on Saturday, who are trained by ex-Eastcote coach Lisa Scarborough.

Elsewhere the seconds lost their unbeaten record as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Hampstead & Westminster II, who took over at the top of the Middlesex Premier Division by just one point.

The Threes secured a 2-0 win against H&W IV, moving them up to second place in Middlesex One, while the Fours beat Winchmore Hill & Enfield 5-0 and the Fives lost 4-0 to Bahl.

COLTS SNOW put paid to both girls and boys U14 games on Sunday.

This weekend the U15 girls take on Havering in the second round of the National Plate.

The club hosts a James Bond themed Casino night on Saturday.
