MAKESHIFT striker Myles Weston has been watching DVDs of Thierry Henry in a bid to keep Andy Scott out of the loan market.

The Brentford boss is running the rule over a series of strikers to boost his misfiring frontline, who’ve bagged just three goals all season between them.

With Ben Strevens, Charlie MacDonald and Carl Cort all sidelined during the early part of the season, winger Weston has been used as a forward by Scott.

And he wants to follow the lead of former Arsenal frontman Henry and be a hit up top too.

He said: "Thierry Henry played out wide when he first went to Arsenal, and look at the transformation he made.

"He became one of the best strikers in the world.

"I look and see what he does. He likes to pull to the left.

"We’re both fast but I’m no Thierry Henry. But who knows? I’m not limiting myself.

"I’m confident I can become a striker. I also watch the top strikers on TV every Saturday to learn from the best.

"I look at the runs they do, their hold-up play, to see what I can improve on."

Weston has failed to find the net since his opening-day double at Carlisle, and was bombed out of the side following a nightmare display in the last home game against Bristol Rovers a fortnight ago.

But the former Notts County winger looked back to his best in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Southend, and has been doing extra shooting practice in a bid to find the net.

He added: "Every training session there’s a lot of us who do extra shooting because we haven’t been scoring enough goals.

"My best tally was four last season, and I’m halfway there already!

"I’m confident of beating that, but I don’t like setting targets because I’m very disappointed in myself if I don’t make them."
