Andy Murray will face another British player for the first time as he begins his quest for Wimbledon glory against Liam Broady.

The world No. 2 has been seeded second at SW19 and will start his bid for the title on Monday against his Stockport-based opponent

Murray had not faced a fellow Brit for a decade before beating Aljaz Bedene and then Kyle Edmund at the Aegon Championships in West Kensington last week.

He will be pleased to have avoided being drawn against Roger Federer until the final as the Swiss legend has been placed on the other side of the draw.

Federer, who ended Murray’s interest in the tournament last year, faces Guido Pella in the first round while controversial Aussie Nick Kyrgios faces Radek Stepanek.

Favourite for the Wimbledon crown, Novak Djokovic, begins his title defence against Brit James Ward.

Defending women’s singles champion Serena Williams will take on Agnieszka Radwanska in the first round.

Australian Open semi-finalist Jo Konta, the first British woman to be seeded since 1984, will play Monica Puig in her first round.

She could then face former finalist Eugenie Bouchard in the next stage. Wildcard entrant Laura Robson must overcome a tricky tie with Angelique Kerber.

Meanwhile, another Brit, Heather Watson will face Annika Beck in her first round match as Wimbledon begins next week.
