Relieved Novak Djokovic squeezed into the last eight at Wimbledon after a testing match against Kevin Anderson.

The World No 1 puffed out his cheeks as he served out the match on Court One after battling back from two sets down in a delayed thriller.

Djokovic was forced to return to the grass again today having seen fading light stop play yesterday evening at SW19 after he had seemingly risen from the dead.

Big serving South African Anderson had threatened to cause a major upset by stealing a march on the Serbian but couldn’t hold his nerve to clinch victory on Monday.

His chance had gone and he lost his service game so crucially at the end of the deciding set to hand Djokovic a quarter-final spot.

Djokovic told the BBC: "I think Kevin served exceptionally well.

“I found it one of the most difficult matches I've played. At times I was really helpless with my returns. He was very aggressive.

"I thought it was high-quality tennis in the fifth set.

"I was two sets down. To come back and win in five gives me great satisfaction and confidence for the next challenge."

The next challenge for the Serbian top seed comes in the form of US Open champion Marin Cilic, whom he has beaten an incredible 12 times without defeat.
