Andy Murray knows plenty about his quarter-final opponent but will be entering unknown territory when he takes on Vasek Pospisil on Wimbledon’s grass courts.

The British No 1 made it through to the last eight for the eighth successive year at SW19 by beating giant Croatian Ivo Karlovic in four sets earlier this week.

It sets up a date with unseeded Pospisil on Wednesday afternoon.

Murray has beaten the Canadian three times in the last 10 months but all of those meetings have come on grass, leaving a little uncertainty in the mind of the former champion.

“Different surface,” Murray said when quizzed on his record against the man who will be making his quarter-final debut at a Grand Slam against the Scot.

“I played him three times on the hard courts. I think a couple of them were indoors, as well. So, yeah, I mean, I've never played him on grass.

Andy Murray's victory over Ivo Karlovic in pictures:

“He's had a good run here. Obviously won the doubles here last year. Can play well on the surface. He's also played a lot of tennis here, which, you know, is a positive for him in some ways.

“But also maybe he's a little bit fatigued. So if that is the case, and I won't bank on that being the case, but if that is the case, I'll try to use that to my advantage.

“Although my match was quite long today, the rallies aren't particularly long, and it's not as physical. So I feel pretty fresh.

“I've played him enough in the last few months, you know, to have an understanding of his game. I'll watch some videos of him playing singles over the next couple days.”

Pospisil goes into the match on the back of an incredible comeback, which saw him defeat Serbia's Viktor Troicki 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 in a topsy-turvy encounter at Wimbledon.
