Ealing Bowling Club's men are the Richmond & Barnes Double Fours champions after beating Masonians BC 43-40.

On the R&B Finals Day at Isleworth BC, the West Ealing four of Rob Ryan, Lionel Singleton, Robin Innes and skip Martin Barrett held a good lead throughout the match, eventually winning 24-15.

The other West Ealing rink of Ken McCarthy, Tony Bond, Terry Pettit and skip John Carey did well to recover from a 3-15 deficit after 10 ends to only lose 19-25.

Overall it was a classic Double Fours game where the West Ealing rinks played as a single team, encouraging each bowl played. As well as winning the Doubles Fours competition, West Ealing have finished an overall fourth in the league, so the club's first year in the Richmond & Barnes Association has been a success.

On Saturday, West Ealing played away at Egham BC in their final weekend friendly match this season. In a close game, the men lost by just a single shot (78-79) and the ladies lost 27-32 - West Ealing and Egham both winning three rinks each.

The West Ealing Club were due to play their final game of the 2008 season this week - a mixed game away from home at Fassnidge (Uxbridge).

However, two notable events take place at the club's Mervyn Road green. This weekend, it's the club finals (both days starting at 10am) and next Sunday the club host the finals of the men's Ealing & District competitions. Visitors are welcome.

Last Sunday, the Ealing & District ladies held their Finals Day at Hayes BC, with the West Ealing Pair of Lu Green and Ann Barrett winning the Pairs competition.

They beat Sheila Connor and Di Clarke from the home club 19-17 in a very close game.

However, home advantage proved too much for West Ealing's Sue Butcher in the singles final, which saw Joyce Hearns of Hayes triumph 21-17.

In the other finals, Mary Ainsby (Brentham BC) beat Sheila Connor (Hayes BC) 17-11 in the Two Woods and Osterley BC were victors 17-14 over Hayes BC in the final of the Monday Night League.

The finals completed a good season for Ealing & District ladies, who also won their three friendly fixtures against other Associations.
