WEST Drayton Mountain Bike Club’s Tim Smith returned to form by dominating the Bath RC 10-mile time trial.

Former national medallist Smith completed the course in a stunning 21mins 53secs to take the chequered flag for WDMBC.

Smith’s club-mate Chris Denham came home in a decent third place despite mechanical problems interrupting his race.

The club showed their strength in depth this week and the whole MBC/Beyond team competed successfully across a number of events.

Teenager Sam Grant missed out on top spot in the Kierin event at Reading by inches to settle for second, a result replicated by experienced rider Clive Evans.

Evans turned 50 this year but is in the form of his life and raced to second to continue his recent hot streak in Hillingdon.

Shari Pay reaped the benefits of her regular training sessions at Hillingdon Farm as she won the women’s class at the Beastway Series in midweek.

And James Poole recovered from his recent Lanzarote ironman exploits to power his Specialized Shiv across the line for his first win of the year in Amersham.
