THERE was an exceptionally good turn out on a very wet and windy Sunday morning for Hillingdon Cycling Club's most popular social event of the year.

Riders came from far and wide to accept invitations to the Old Crocks and Ladies Invitation 10 Mile Time Trials, a handicap event held on the Great Missenden course.

Jemma Rowlandson won the ladies category with a time of 22mins 34secs ahead of Tracey Jaquest (23.47), Pauline Erodotou (24.12), Jill Lawrence (24.50), Maggie Smith (25.25) and Margaret Wright (25.34).

Hillingdon's Connie May was seventh out of the 12 competitors in 26.45.

The Old Crocks race was won by 83-year-old Hounslow and District Wheelers member Ron Richardson, in 20.55.

He finished clear of Ron Johnson (22.34), Roger Woolsey (23.09), Hillingdon's Paul Marchant (23.25), Alan Gallacher (24.00) and Jim McKay (24.03), who headed a field of 19.

The club's 10 Mile Championship was also decided and Graham Weeks retained his title again with a ride of 23.03, beating road racer Peter Jones (25.24), while Roy May clocked 27.09 to take the Veterans on Age Standard Trophy and his wife, Connie, collected the Ladies Championship Cup.
