Greg Ngoyi's injury time winner sent Wealdstone into their first Ryman League Cup final – but manager Gordon Bartlett may miss it.

Bartlett, a teacher, has to be present an an open day at his school next Wednesday, the same day his team take on Leatherhead in the final at Imber Court, Surrey.

“It's my fault,” he said, after watching Ngoyi seal a scrappy game in wet and windy conditions. “It's backfired because I imagined the final would have been on a Thursday. If I can get my appointments done early then maybe I can get to the game later on.”

He added tongue in-cheek: “I'd like to think I can get there for the celebrations.”

His assistant, Leo Morris, will be in the hot-seat for the game.

Before Ngoyi's winner chances were few and far between for both sides and the visitors shut up shop following the first half dismissal of Mario Bianchi, who picked up two yellow cards within seconds of one another. While his first was harsh for a decent tackle on the impressive Reece Yorke his second merited a straight red. His two footed lunge on Sam Beagle forced the luckless goalkeeper off with a nasty knee injury.

He was replaced by Sean Thomas, who was largely untroubled for the remainder of a dour game.
