WEALDSTONE will this summer host the first of what will become their annual memorial matches.
The Stones welcome Hayes & Yeading to Grosvenor Vale on July 27 in the innaugural Wealdstone Memorial Match in memory of supporters who are sadly no longer with us.
Wealdstone are asking fans to write some special editorial (approx 50/100 words with photos where possible) in memory of their loved ones that are no longer standing on the terraces with us, for the matchday programme.
Fans will take part in a one minute hand clap before kick off. Supporters can also sponsor the match in memory of a loved one and the club can provide special arrangements for them if they so require.
The match will still contest the Brian Collins Challenge Shield but the club is open to suggestions for a special epitaph, memorial or roll of honour to be created in the future.
Club president Paul Rumens said: ”At last we at Wealdstone have an opportunity, via the fans and lifeblood of this club, to recognise and remember those friends and family, who are sadly no longer with us. Now we can celebrate their lives year on year and in so doing they will never be forgotten”.
