WEALDSTONE moved within touching distance of league-leaders Hendon after back-to-back wins in Division One of the Veteran’s League.

Having seen off Ladygate 70-49 (4-1), Wealdstone then brushed aside the table-toppers 60-41 (5-0) to pile the pressure on the Hendon players.

Pinner lie just behind the pace-setters in third spot after they were held to a 49-49 draw with Harrow A despite winning three of the five rinks contested.

Meanwhile, it was a busy few days for Harrow Weald who played their opening three Division Two fixtures.

The bowlers opened with a 53-43 defeat to Eastcote (4.5-0.5) before bouncing back 54-41 (4-1) against Ruislip and ending with a disappointing 51-40 (3.5-1.5) loss to Northwood.

Wembley got their Division Three season off to a disappointing start after they were beaten 10-0 (5-0) by a strong Culver side.

The Wembley players were still struggling to find their feet in their second fixture as they lost all five rinks and were beaten 81-43 by Woodcock

And it was also an afternoon to forget for Stanmore who slumped to an 80-31 (5-0) loss to Century B. That defeat was followed up by another disappointing 10-0 loss to Culver.
