ADAM Thompson has backed Watford team-mate Dale Bennett to be a hit at Brentford.

The Northern Irish defender returned to Vicarage Road this week following two months with the Bees, only for Bennett to come in the opposite direction after an injury to Karleigh Osborne .

And Thompson insists the 21-year-old will be successful at Griffin Park .

He said: “Dale can play at right-back or centre-back, so he's a good signing for Brentford.

“He doesn't take any prisoners in the tackle but he can also play a bit as well.”

Thompson made 10 appearances during his stint in TW8, only to return to the first-team fold at the Championship club.

And he admits his spell at the Bees has been a big boost to his career.

He added: “I came to Brentford to get games and go back to my parent club to get in and around the first-team, so hopefully that will happen.

“My time there helped my development and career so I'm grateful to the gaffer.”
