BRENTFORD will assess the fitness of Dale Bennett this morning before deciding whether to extend his loan at Griffin Park.

The Watford defender scored on his Bees debut last month, only to suffer a freak knee injury in training before the trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

However, the 21-year-old is on the road to recovery, and has an outside chance of being fit for Saturday's clash with Rochdale.

Bennett's loan expires after the trip to Spotland, and Brentford must extend it before Thursday's window closes if they want to keep him in TW8 until the new year.

With fellow loanee Miguel Llera due to return to Blackpool at the beginning of December, and Karleigh Osborne, Shaleum Logan and Kevin O'Connor all out injured, the Bees need cover at the back heading into the festive fixtures.
