AXED Reading youngster Jacob Walcott is set for a move to Hayes & Yeading United.

Walcott, cousin of Arsenal star Theo, was one of 13 players released by Royals boss Brian McDermott ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League.

The capture of the 20-year-old would be a considerable coup for United as manager Nas Bashir plots a Blue Square South promotion push next season.

A pacy forward, Walcott is capable of operating out on the wing or as a central striker and plays in a similar swashbuckling style to his more famous cousin.

While at Reading he spent time with Steve Cordery’s Staines Town in the Conference South as well as earning a loan to Dutch outfit Telstar in January 2011.

The former England youth international has also had trials with Utrecht and Stevenage as he searched for first-team football after being frozen out at the Madjeski Stadium.

The addition of the young hotshot would come at the right time as Victor Osobu, a summer arrival from Beaconsfield, is understood to have left the club this week.

Another former Reading youngster, John Goddard, is still being tracked by Bashir with the United boss hoping to snap up the midfielder.

Meanwhile, United have further bolstered their growing squad after sealing deals for Josh Ekim, Sam Cox, Jay Kalama, Kudus Oyenuga, Manny Williams and a return for Daryl McLean.
