ROWAN Vine hopes his loan move to Brentford can kick-start his career and put him back on the football map.

The QPR striker agreed to join the Bees until January last week after being frozen out of the first-team at Loftus Road.

The 28-year-old has failed to appear for Rangers this campaign, and is still finding his feet after a horrific double leg break in a training ground accident two years ago.

"I want to get back to the level I was at before I got injured," said Vine.

"I just want to play as much as I can and kick-start my career. I don't mind dropping down a division – there's no airs and graces about me.

"I still think I've got my best football ahead of me. I want to put my name back on the map.

Vine returns to Brentford following a season-long loan spell at Griffin Park eight years ago.

He made more than 50 appearances for the Bees, scoring 13 goals, appearing alongside Michael Dobson, Kevin O'Connor and Ibrahima Sonko.

"I had some great memories," he recalls.

"I've still got the season's review video now. I think it was called something like 'Young Guns and Cup Runs', but it's a bit scratchy now!

"Even though I started my career at Portmsouth I always call Brentford my first club. That's where I made my name. If I didn't go to Brentford I don't think I would've had the success afterwards.

"This is a chance for me to write a new chapter."

But he will have to wait another week for his Bees debut after tomorrow's clash with Notts County was postponed because of a frozen pitch at Griffin Park.
